How do I downgrade my game version?

If your World of Warcraft client has been updated to a version newer than the one supported by EVOWOW, you will not be able to connect to the server.

EVOWOW uses Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a (build 12340).

How does the client get updated?

The most common cause is starting the game through Launcher.exe, which may begin updating the client. For EVOWOW, start the game directly with Wow.exe.

How can I downgrade the client?

There are two main options:

Option 1: Clean installation

The safest option is to remove the current client and use a compatible 3.3.5a (build 12340) installation again.

Option 2: Repair procedure

1. Open the main World of Warcraft directory and then the Data folder.
2. Find patch.MPQ and rename or remove it.
3. Return to the main game directory and run Repair.exe.
4. Wait for the repair process to finish. The client will normally be restored to an earlier base version.
5. Apply the required patches in order until you reach 3.3.5a (build 12340).

Important: Once you are back on the correct version, do not use Launcher.exe to start the game. Use Wow.exe instead.
